IT Card

Postby MemberSince99 » Mon Dec 31, 2012 3:45 pm

Well I got the IT card today. Frankly I thought it was made out of paper it is so flimsy. No one will ever mistake it for metal despite the appearance.

I guess I was expecting a bit more.

If you guys are getting it because you think the picture looks cool, please bear in mind it doesn't look or feel like that in person. It's kind of like Amex BCP - I always thought the pictures online of it look really nice but in person it looked kind of cheap to me.

Just my feeling yours may vary but that's honestly what I thought.

Discover that IT sucks! Just kidding. I am not fond of this trend that Chase created anyway (account numbers on the back of the card, vertical cards etc) but the most important thing is that you are now always earning at least 1%

Hopefully they will allow different card designs like with More soon.

It's almost like they are trying to copy the CSP in terms of appearance. If they made it out of metal, I would be impressed. But unfortunately it's plastic that kinda looks like metal.

Oh well it's a credit card right so no biggie!

I fully understand where you are coming from...some banks take a lot of care in making a handsome or modern card. The Sapphire/Sapphire Preferred are actually good looking cards...but I wish the numbers and letters were on the front and properly embossed. Aparently they (Chase) continue to receive complaints from people like me that upon receiving their vertical Slate card, request a "normal" horizontal one and Chase actually delivers. Now, I take exception to this IT card for a number of reasons...the name, IT, really? Then the gimmicky flat front and copy cat Chase back-of-the card account number. And initially, when IT came out in, what, October? the only difference between IT and More was the stupid card design and no penalties for using the card irresponsibly (no overlimit, no late fees etc etc).

The Discover Platinum card from 1999-2003 was a nice, simple design and then they started this whole More crap and now this IT crap. At least now in addition to the gimmicky card design, IT finally has the 1% cash back with no tiers to go through.

It's just like some states' license plate designs. Seen a new Georgia plate recently (LOL here is a hint, its AWFUL)? That red, white and blue Texas plate? They are WAY too busy....and then you have Indiana...blue, flat and boring. There has to be a nice common ground. If Discover makes IT out of a metal of some sort then it would be kind of cool though unoriginal since Chase did it first.

I am the minority though, most people love this new IT design. To each their own.

99 I thought you quit the forum? nice to have you back. Everytime you post though it seems to be negative I thought you said you wouldn't get the IT card because it is lame and you quit discover because you expect more out of a prime bank?

I would hope you don't find all my posts negative that would really be a bad reflection on me. I apologize if you find my posts negative. I honestly tell it like I see it, and doing that isn't common I realize. Anyway, sorry that my posts seem to be on the negative side.

Honestly in most ways it is the More card, but seems aimed at people with less than stellar credit. Given that the More has loosened up in terms of approval criteria, I still don't see how they really differentiate. HOWEVER, what got me to switch is very simple - $$$. You see, now the IT gives you the full 1% in rewards, no more .25 and under 1% tiers based on spending. That is the ONLY reason I converted.

I did that before the incident with the dispute started. Who wouldn't want the extra rewards I couldn't see a reason NOT to at that point.

And yes, I DO honestly expect more from a prime bank in terms of disputes. I'm very disappointed with Discover in that regard. They are always very nice, great people to talk with when you call them, but I really do expect them to be on my side. I dispute only when I've been screwed, and it's not often, 99.99% of the time things are fine, but when I get screwed, the gloves come off, it's not even the money it's that someone thinks they are going to screw me and I won't stand for it. I want the banks to help us when that happens, and to go after the bad guys, not hold me down while they screw me and make away with the loot.

That much is true. If it's negative, well all I can do is tell you it's how I honestly feel, and I'm truly sorry for having been a downer. I will try to not post negative type things. Bear in mind I do tend to speak my mind but I mean no offense.

LOL CC I totally agree that the Texas Plate sucks, good thing they changed it to a new design that looks way better so I won't have to pay extra to get a customized one next year because I refused to put the ugly red, white, and blue one on my car. This is how the new one looks... way cleaner

You are a very helpful poster so keep on speaking your mind lol, I was just mentioning that it seemed weird how you had an issue with discover the other day and yet your with them again, but I see that you app'd before the issue occurred.

Discover has been really good to me since I have been with them when ever I have an issue I usually just do livechat and they always address my issues or give them a call and things go pretty smoothly. It sucks that you had the negative experience with them.

Thank you as well. Discover is good in many ways, though they sure are conservative (or can be) with limits. Great CS though, right up there with the best if not THE best. I mean isn't it great you get an American on the line you can understand and who can help you instead of reading from a script and making a mockery out of customer service? I love that part of it.

So when did they change the Texas plates? I lived there over 10 years ago they looked a lot nicer then.

They changed the plate design to the one I posted up top mid 2012 which is great because the one before it was this design...
