Ouch, maybe you should look into a Chase Slate with $0 transfer fee in first 60 days and 0% for 15 months. Then work really hard to transfer all balances to it and pay it down within those 15 months. No sense in worrying about the 1% cash back when you are carrying a balance because the interest will wipe out all savings. I know you said you want to get away from Chase though, but no transfer fee is probably worth it depending on the balances that you are carrying.

His 7.99 % is about as low as you'll find on a credit card past the initial 0% rate, which as I'm sure you know is just designed to condition you to carrying a balance so then they can jack the rate to 22% down the road and make some real money off you.

At 7.99% carrying a small balance for a couple of months isn't going to be that big of a deal.

Very true. My second lowest rate is a 14.74. I mean I hate carrying a balance but ishhh happens and sometimes u have no choice. I dont have great credit and I only have 2 years worth of history. I've seen people making 300k plus a year drowning in debt. Even the rich carry balances as well. It's wise to me to have a low apr avalible just in case.

I'd love to know the stuff you know and must learn working for Discover irvine. That's gotta be worth the price of admission right there.

Honestly I do find it ironic that you work for Discover and don't have great credit though!

Since Discover hasn't finalized their 2013 5% categories, can I put a vote in for groceries?

I'm guessing they're gonna announce them 1 month after the first month of each new category for 2013. The categories for Jan-Mar is restaurants and movies.
