Oct. 26, 2012 Bonus Day!

Postby DavidNY » Fri Oct 12, 2012 12:37 pm

I'm paying all my bills and maybe do some shopping with my Discover More card on Oct. 26th.

5% online + 2% bonus (go online and sign up) = 7% off online shopping, including bills.

Nevermind, I found it. BUT, it says the transactions must POST on the 26th, and they aren't responsible for merchant delays. So I think I should buy my stuff on the 25th. Since the 26th is a Friday and nothing will post in time.

If you shop through ShopDiscover it'll be 12%! And potentially up to 27% as some stuff on ShopDiscover nets you 20% back.
AMEX BCE ($20,000), Citi Forward ($6,800), Discover IT ($5,250), BoA Travel Rewards ($1,800)

I'm buying on Friday, maybe our resident Discover guru will chime in on that.

I am checking out some nice HDTVs via the merchants on ShopDiscover. I'm not sure whether or not to wait for Black Friday.

I have the same dilemma.... buy my new computer Friday and get 12% with 5% Quarterly Online Shopping + 5% ShopDiscover + 2% 10/26 Bonus or wait until Black Friday/Cyber Monday... I know that if I buy stuff now, it'll be cheaper on Black Friday/Cyber Monday, but if I wait, all the components I want won't be there and I'll miss out on an extra 2%.

I'm definitely waiting until black friday to pick up a TV for my room and a new laptop. Electronics will be dirt cheap. I will just hit up ShopDiscover.

Also, don't assume that you won't see the bonus again. They will have it several more times before the end of the year.

All went well for 7% cashback day, however I learned that the gigantic phone company Verizon (at least their landline/cable side) doesn't take Discover online. They take Visa, MC, Amex, and the debit networks Star, Plus and Pulse. C'mon, Pulse is owned by Discover. Ah, well, I'll have to settle for 5% with Ink.
