All they have to do is pay their bills on time and no card will charge them fees (and I'm not referring to Credit One or First Premiere or the bottom of the barrel folks here, I mean prime cards). Seems pretty simple to me.

Agreed. But, the phenomenon is the same as iphone owners feeling elitist and bragging about buying an iphone even though all smartphones essentially carry a 199.99 price tag. Folks want to be able to show that they are the cream of the crop based on what they spend their money on.

Boom, hit the nail on the head right there. Savvy credit users micromanage their personal finances well enough to the point that the only use for all those extra protection is to safeguard against paranoia.

Main Card: Amex Platinum
For gas: Penfed Platinum Cash Rewards
For travel & dining: Chase Sapphire Preferred

I couldn't care less about the fees, since I'm always on top of my CC accounts. However, I had read that this card is good for those with a limited credit history, and it turns out it was, since I was approved for $1500 CL with only 6 months history.

That is a good starting CL. They're betting you'll carry a balance.

LOL maybe they only tell the folks in Chicago and Delaware about it. The SLC employees couldn't handle it. Just kidding....so when is Discover going to put an EMV chip on their cards? Mine expires 11/13 so I'd like to see a chip in my replacement card.

+1

Any insight as to when Discover will roll out EMV?
