My account cycles 8/11, after which the beautiful IT card will be on its way to me. I will be out of town that week visiting family, but my thoughts will be at home with my mailbox where my beautiful new Discover IT card will hopefully be sitting when I return. I plan to not use the card but rather put it away in my desk to preserve its beauty and keep it safe from all the haters.

Well, yes, but how to tell who is worthy to see it?

I think we've found the target market

Postby Iroquois » Wed Aug 01, 2012 9:06 am

Of course ! How could that escape us ? The market for consumers who want the card.

Now this may be the start of a movement in a few different directions. If "IT" refers to the Adams family (Cousin IT) we could see off shoots towards more characters or towards other movies (Friday the 13th card ) ??

Or we could be seeing the start of grammar card series perhaps this is an opening of starting with the Pronoun family ? Could the "he" card or "she" card be next.

Ya know, Discover just could corner these markets too. Imagine al of this pushing Peggy off the air

This just might become a rare collectors card (limited edition << or limited demand>>)too.

Pure genius !

IT reissued to existing customers , no new biz but just added costs ?

Postby Iroquois » Sun Sep 30, 2012 8:40 am

Now that everyone who wanted a pretty card has gotten IT and Discover has seen IT costs for card issuance and mail and fraud for the cards sent by mail that were stolen, how will those costs be recovered ?

In 6 months will this be looked back on as the Oh S_-IT card or D__.n - IT card ?

Like the Peggy commercials before this was just off course. Its not why people acquire a card or use a card. Acceptance, annual fee, APR, credit line and rewards are the tools for success for Discover, its customers and its prospects. Even if by chance there is any breakthrough in awareness, does it matter and even if it should the feature is easily met and trumped.

But the card looks nice and existing customers who want it will just raise Discover's costs by asking for it in my opinion. How about some MORE competitive Cash Back ?
