I'm guessing that the IT card is intended to replace More for new accounts. Perhaps Discover will eventually migrate current More accounts to IT down the road.

I will make the switch assuming I keep the same account number and configuration for auto pay, payment date, etc. that I currently have with More. The rewards will also have to be equal or better. The only reason I want the IT card is because it's apparently non-embossed with account details on back, like Chase Sapphire. I really like that.

However, like the Sapphire card, I expect I won't find a reason to use the IT card as my current complement of cards for maximum cashback is Amex Blue Cash Preferred, US Bank Cash+, Fidelity Amex and Chase Amazon.

If they force us to migrate to basically a card for subprime users (we won't charge you for your first late) then forget it - I'm a FORMER Discover member at that point. Dead serious. If I wanted subprime I could have kept my Crapital One card with a 500 limit that might someday grow to 750 and stay there for 10 years.

So I guess my days with Discover are numbered but I must say, I have enjoyed their CSRs they are the best I've seen so far and I will miss those guys.

Only if they force us to migrate to it. I really have little use for a subprime card at this time.

It's just Discover's marketing team offering more fluff with less substance as usual.

I don't think they are getting rid of Discover More....that would be insane:

https://www.discover.com/credit-cards/get-discover/?ICMPGN=TNV_GETDC_TXT

It appears to still be available along with Motiva, Open Road and Escape

I believe IT is an experiment and it will not last forever. I don't know anybody with a Citi Simplicity or Amex Clear card which appear to be Discover's model in copying the IT card. How stupid, "IT." LOL They should have that clown from Steven King's IT as the card design.

I just called and had my More account converted to IT, which will happen in mid-August at the end of my current billing cycle. It sounds like the only difference is the increased leniency on late payments, which doesn't matter to me, but you also get to set your own due date and payment date if you autopay, which means you can control the length of your grace period. This was not the case with More.

The rep. told me they are still going to be issuing More cards to new customers who want them.

I don't think the IT card is viewed as a subprime account. I just think this is Discover's MO for competing with the "simple" cards being offered by Citi and others. They could have made the More card more attractive by improving the rewards, IMO. Perhaps they saw the "simple card" strategy as being cheaper/easier. IDK.
American Express: Blue Cash Preferred (groceries, 6%; gas, department store, 3%); Gold Delta SkyMiles (Delta Air Lines, 2 miles/dollar, free checked bag).
US Bank: Cash+ (utilities, phone, internet, restaurant, 5%; drugstores, 2%).
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (everything, 2%); Fidelity Visa (everything, 1.5%).
Chase: Freedom (rotating, 5%); Amazon (Amazon.com, 3%); PriorityClub (IHG hotels, 5 points/dollar); Sapphire (not in use).

*All cards are registered with PriorityClub IDine program for 8 points/dollar at participating restaurants.

The most important point of converting to the It card is that once you convert, you cannot convert to another type of card in the future.

I believe Discover wants you to wait 3 months between PCs, so if nothing else you'd just have to wait another month or so. Account numbers should all remain the same with PCs unless you're changing payment networks (which you're obviously not in this case).
