How to opt out of their solicitations?

Postby bmw1990Z » Tue Jun 05, 2012 3:19 pm

To give you some background info, I am a full time college student with a citi forward card and soon to be gold delta amex...I receive something from Discover weekly telling me I'm approved for a discover student card and discover more (regular version..)

I have no need for discover cards, does anyone know how to get them to stop contacting me?

My sibling who also has the same cards as me has a discover...perhaps that is why?
Cards in my wallet:
-Citi Forward Card for College Students-July 2011
-American Express Platinum Delta Skymiles--July 2013

I think you have to call that number (or go online) to opt out. It may be possible to contact them directly and ask I'm not sure.

Honestly though, just my opinion but Discover is pretty good to get in with.

The only reason I got a Discover is that they once offered a 5% off gas card. You're really not missing much.

I agree that discover is a great cc to get with. Excellent customer service and nice cash rewards.

5% back is nothing to me. I'd rather put all my purchases on my delta amex for the miles. Discover in my opinion is really lackluster in comparison with amex.

Discover in my opinion is really lackluster in comparison with anything with the possible exeption of the 5% categories on the More card.

I have a Chase Freedom which has 5% off gas in the same quarters. Coincidence?

Contact the credit reporting agencies and tell them you want to opt-out of pre-screen offers. That will keep you from getting "pre-approved" offers from Discover and everyone else if that is your wish.
American Express: Blue Cash Preferred (groceries, 6%; gas, department store, 3%); Gold Delta SkyMiles (Delta Air Lines, 2 miles/dollar, free checked bag).
US Bank: Cash+ (utilities, phone, internet, restaurant, 5%; drugstores, 2%).
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (everything, 2%); Fidelity Visa (everything, 1.5%).
Chase: Freedom (rotating, 5%); Amazon (Amazon.com, 3%); PriorityClub (IHG hotels, 5 points/dollar); Sapphire (not in use).

*All cards are registered with PriorityClub IDine program for 8 points/dollar at participating restaurants.

I like my 5% on movies, restaurants, and gas. I also like how quick and easy it is to redeem rewards. They are stingy with their limits though. My other cards give me 3 or 4 times more room with my limit.
