LOL Discover has gotten quite creative with their balance transfer checks! :D

You know how they normally come in plain envelopes or those check type envelopes where you have to tear the tabs on the side.?? I got some in the mail today (have discover more card) and they came in packaging that I didn't know what it was believe it or not! The envelope was made with the same paper they use on paper grocery bags and they had it cushioned too like so you would think something might be inside. I open it and I'm disappointed when I find out it's only stupid cash advance checks!

Cash advances on what type of credit line though? B of A cut my credit line way back for no reason. I'm surprised they are still doing cash advances on credit cards period. That's risky money and we all know that the people that resort to their credit cards for cash advances at super high interest rates are already financially stuck and probably close to bankruptcy.

If credit cards were smart they would end the cash advance checks all together. There's too much risk. No credit worthy customer would use a cash advance check, ever. That means they like customers with bad credit. Then when they default they go to the feds for a bailout. Unbelievable.

When I get these they go straight in the trash. The cash advance interest rate is so high I don't know who would pay that!

Well I think we have to keep in mind that it is called Credit Card and not Debit Card or Cash Card :) I never used a Cash Advance Check or anything like that. Way to dangerous in my opinion and apparently they charge a certain fee when you use these checks.

What happens if I take a cash advance on my credit cards before I file for bankruptcy. Will I have to pay back that money?

Out of an attorney's perspective that would be called Fraud. As soon as you know that you will file bankruptcy you are not supposed to touch your credit cards anymore. Also depending on the amount you will file bankruptcy for it may be quite expensive with the attorney fees. Talk to an attorney before even mentioning that you will file bankruptcy !!

Yeppers. If you plan on taking on extra debt so you can gain advantage with it through bankruptcy that would be fraud.
