Does McDonalds take Discover?

Postby wiredup » Tue Jan 04, 2011 3:08 am

A random question. Does McDonalds take Discover card? What about minimum purchase amount at McDonalds I have never tried charging a small purchase on my Visa there. Think it's possible to charge something on the dollar menu to a credit card?

Yes, they take Discover, and you can charge any amount you want.
American Express: Blue Cash Preferred (groceries, 6%; gas, department store, 3%); Gold Delta SkyMiles (Delta Air Lines, 2 miles/dollar, free checked bag).
US Bank: Cash+ (utilities, phone, internet, restaurant, 5%; drugstores, 2%).
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (everything, 2%); Fidelity Visa (everything, 1.5%).
Chase: Freedom (rotating, 5%); Amazon (Amazon.com, 3%); PriorityClub (IHG hotels, 5 points/dollar); Sapphire (not in use).

*All cards are registered with PriorityClub IDine program for 8 points/dollar at participating restaurants.

I believe McDonald's does count as a restaurant where Discover, Chase, etc. are concerned.
American Express: Blue Cash Preferred (groceries, 6%; gas, department store, 3%); Gold Delta SkyMiles (Delta Air Lines, 2 miles/dollar, free checked bag).

I'm wondering why you asked this online? Is it really that hard to go to a McDonald's and ask/try?

Anyway, yes they accept Visa/Amx/Discover and so will any fast-food chain of more than 10 locations. They didn't accept any credit for a while because the fees were too high to justify, but the fast food industry now has special discounts that take into account the fact that they are high volume, but low priced, sales.

Yes, they take it and it does ring up under restaurant. Worst thing for me was them starting to take credit cards. Made grabbing a quick snack way too convenient. :(
