EX is just a bit "hot" from several Amex and Chase cards. Almost all of my inquiries have been productive.

That's important. I've had several business related and housing related etc etc inquiries in the 12 and 24 months that were not particularly productive. Without those, I would be in excellent shape.

Also got a car two Septembers ago. First sale fell through because they tried to switch the color of the car, so I think I have 4 or 6 inquires just on Experian from that (both times they pulled from the dealership and the manufacturer) and one on either EQ or TU.

Otherwise, all my inquiries have been productive in that I haven't been denied credit on an application in severa years.

I've been denied. Not much, but some of these lenders are quirky (Barclays). What they denied me, I was hoping they would and was actually happy not to get it. That app was not as well thought out as I would have hoped. So I was happy to lose on that one. On the ones I care about, it's been a while.

Just remembered my last denial. Bank of America. I applied for their travel card and they declined then tried to push me to their secured card.

I thought given my current history and trampolines it was one of the most stupid things I've seen. I just ignored their letters urging me to go for the secured card. I mean when you already have cards with five figure limits not to mention perfect history and a high score why the he'll would you want a 500 limit secured card. Cap one would give me 500 with no deposit if I wanted that.

Yeah I'm aware it graduates. I don't care it's not a product that I found appealing. Not sure why they did that but I'll chalk it up to we don't want your business.

That is funny. If a human even glanced at your credit profile it would be pretty obvious you'd have no use for a secured card, but unless you tried recon it probably didn't go before a human's eyes at any point in that process. Of course they can have whatever criteria they want to set for their travel card, but to just start pushing the secured card like that? I'm sure it's just because that was the next "step down" from what you applied for, and they have your contact info, so it's the next best thing they offer and they can try to sell you.

On the topic of BoA...what does everyone make of their card lineup? Why the whole lot of nothing? I do think they get a major chunk of regular cash back seeking customers, but they have nothing to offer most consumers in the way of a medium or higher end card (at least not publicly, I know they have some hidden cards?? - is that right or did I make it up?).

I'm curious what everyone else thinks.

Yeah I never tried to recon. I wanted d a visa Sig but I guess I figured it was just as well and let it go.

I'm kind of glad they declined since I've gotten serious about travel.

Others want the business so no big deal.

Do you mean high end as in amex platinum or Chase Palladian?

In that case you are right I don't know of anything comparable they offer.

It depends on what you are looking for. They have no annual fee on their base cards and decent rewards. That may work well for some. They also give a ten percent bonus if you have checking with them. And some timed offers like say ten percent on your next Starbucks purchase can be really good as well. I liked that.

So I wouldn't say they are bad really.
