Neither have I. Remember, discover have different tiers of cards, and they may be dropping it for one, or changing the OPs account type.

He does list the More in his signature. I think this might be their way of getting people to switch over to a current card.

I saw that too. It sucks to be losing perks like that. They even used a buzzword to make it sound like a "good" thing. Gotta love the way weasels do that, something along the lines of "In order to better serve our customers, we are eliminating customer service". Or "For security purposes, we will leash and brand you and dunk your head in a vat of boiling water". You get the idea.

I didn't get a message about it, but I looked on the benefit details page and Discover says they are discontinuing the benefit. It looks like this applies to all their cards, perhaps even the premium ones if they are still around.

I'd be more bothered if Discover was my primary or main travel card.

Do you think Discover felt they were paying out too much in benefits in these programs? Or that dedicating the staff to operate them was too expensive when not many people were using them?
Very useful: SchwabPlat, CSP, IHG, Costco (was AA Plat), Freedom, SPG, Prestige (retention)
Somewhat useful: Discover, ED (was EDP), BCE, Hyatt
SD with activity alerts, might close: Arrival

Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold, First Tech, BofA Travel PH, Aviator Red

I *suspect" their reasoning was that only a small percentage of people use these benefits, so they could achieve a cost savings by just doing away with it, figuring that most people would not be bothered about losing benefits they aren't using.

The thing is, with these benefits yeah maybe I won't use them but Visa and MC and Amex offer comparable perks and they aren't being done away with, so that leaves me less likely to use my Discover card if I might need to use these benefits on a given purchase.

So it's kind of a double edged sword. Sure they save a bit by eliminating this stuff, but then will it actually cost them in swipes when people use other cards and will that then end up actually saving them anything. Hard to guess, but the beancounters will always push for the upfront savings.

I have never used any of the services they are doing away with so it really isn't a bother for now. I will think twice when I am traveling about pulling the card out first though. The extra benefits are just a security blanket one likes to have.

Chase Sapphire Preferred $14,000
BoA Better Balance $12,000
Amex Every Day $24,000
Discover It $19,000
NFCU Cash Rewards $25,200
Barclay Arrival WMC $10,000
Cap One QuickSilver WMC $7,200
WF Cash back Visa Sig $11,000

On top of that, it will cost them the large purchases. No one thinks about which card offers the best benefits why buying a redbull and snickers. But when renting a car, or buying plane tickets people will always check benefits.
