Double Cash Back Promotion for Discover IT only

Postby FakeHealer » Mon Jun 01, 2015 4:15 pm

So a few days ago, I was randomly searching around about credit cards for more in depth reviews(such as Citi Prestige, AMEX Platinum, etc), and I stumbled upon a page mentioning a promotion Discover was having.

http://www.doctorofcredit.com/discover- ... pdiscover/

Yes, 10% cash back rotating categories, 2% all around, and double cash back Discover Deals.

I waited until today to see if this was true, as I didn't want to jump the gun & get my hopes up for nothing. It turns out it's true, & I got myself enrolled in it. Downside for me is I have to wait til the 25th of this month(my next closing date) for this to start applying to me. If you're luckier than I am, then you might be able to get it working now if your statement closed on June 1st(or up to now). Definitely one of the coolest promos I've ever seen, and I will be using this card that much more now. I hope they keep on the good road they've been on lately.
Favorite Cards:
Amex BCP: $9000
Amex PRG(NPSL)
Discover IT: $5700
Hyatt: $5000
Chase Freedom: $4500

Occasional Use:
Barclaycard Arrival(no fee): $3300

Rarely Used:
Marriott Premier Rewards: $5200
Citi DoubleCash: $2000
Cap 1 Secured: $750

I enrolled myself as well. This is amazing. Beginning June 27 (my billing cycle closes on the 26th), my IT card will become my default non-category card, as well as being used for the specific categories that are in for a given quarter. That next quarter Amazon.com is one of the bonus categories is also a boon that goes with the double cashback. That's effectively 10% off my Prime membership, and for everything else I buy on Amazon. I dare say there is not a single no-AF cashback card on the market right now that comes even close to competing with Discover when this promo is accounted for. Others are just... fillers.

I signed up without any trouble.

2% cash back still falls a little short of EDP for off-category stuff. Unfortunately, the places that don't take Amex often don't take Discover, either. For restaurants, 10% cash back is comparable to 5.5 URs.

For Discover Deals and Q3 Amazon, though, I will make use of this.

Is it only for new IT cards? Those of you enrolling, how old are your IT accounts?
