16 days looks like the ticket

Postby MemberSince99 » Sun May 24, 2015 10:42 am

For a CLI request with Discover. One of the mods on FICO posted that, and I had requested one 16 days ago and got 1k and today I went and tried it again and got another 1k. Hey I'll take it.

I hope it lasts long enough for me to reach 10k (I'm at 8500 now).

Just tried this on a whim, being completely sleep deprived and possibly delirious, thinking I wouldn't be so lucky. I got a $1500 increase, and limit is now $5700. I already loved Discover for removing their cash back minimum threshold, and now with their mellowing out on CLI's!!!! They're really stepping up to the bar, and that makes me a very happy guy. Thanks for the info Member! :) I might not have tried this, if it wasn't for this post!

Discover sometimes is just pretty odd in giving limits. I don't feel like requesting another CLI since January as I have requested once. If this is Amex or Citi, the request might either be pending or get to a straight denial, so I didn't bother trying. Now that they already gave me automatic CLI, there is no need for me to manually request one at the moment.

The trend for discover was to press the luv button after each statement cut. It looks like you can do it almost once a week now.

Not quite. I tried it a week after I got a CLI and it was denied. But 16 days later has worked a couple of times now. Even if you get 1000 a shot that's 2k a month, pretty good results when you don't even take a HP.

So are we sure there is no HP?

Well, I tried anyway and was approved for $1500 making my new limit $11k.

This is the first time I have requested a CLI from Discover. I got an auto 11 months after I got the card--that was $1500 to come to think of it.

I only use my Discover for bonus cats so it rarely sees a balance over $1k before being paid off.

It will tell you if it will be a hard pull when you request the CLI. I'm not sure what the exact wording is, but from what I have read it is pretty obvious.

I requested and got a soft pull cli late March of $1500 and decided to go for it again yesterday and to my surprise, got another soft pull cli of the same amount $1500 to a total of $8500. Wouldn't have even bothered trying if it wasn't for your post. Thanks member. Do keep us updated if you are successful on your next cli. Hopefully I can get my credit limit to $10k and leave it at there.

I have a joint Discover, which means no auto-CLIs.

I recently requested a CLI for the first time. $1k by soft pull, from $2k to $3k.

A $1k CLI is in line with what others are getting, but I was a little surprised since the account is over a year old. I was expecting more.
Very useful: SchwabPlat, CSP, IHG, Costco (was AA Plat), Freedom, SPG
Somewhat useful: Discover, ED (was EDP), BCE, Hyatt, Arrival
May close or PC: Prestige, BrooksBros

Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold, First Tech
