Has anyone here or on MF been desperate enough for a Discover CLI to close an account and immediately apply for a new one (in hopes of a higher CLI)?
Wallet: Prestige CSP SchwabPlat Freedom It Hyatt SallieMae AAPlat
SD: Arrival BrooksBros BCE ED IHG
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when

LOL, That definitely sounds like something that would happen on MF. Not sure about Discover, but you do hear of people doing that with Chase a lot on MF. They open a slate just to move the limit over to a CSP, Freed, Mariot, ect. I guess you can say it works well for cards that have no signup bonus.

I kinda wish they wouldn't send you a letter in the mail when they decline your CLI. Such a waste of paper for a couple lines essentially saying "it's been too soon since your last CLI". At least I'm assuming that's the wording in my case.
Kohls: $300, Discover IT: $1.8k, Capital One Quicksilver: $2k, Amazon Store Card: $2.2k, BoA Cash Rewards: 1k, Chase Freedom: 3.2k, AMEX HHonors 3k

Ugh. I got caught up in that stupid MF 16 day CLI. On 1 June I got $1500 ($10K-$11.5K). Today I clicked the luv button and got the dreaded "your request is under review...blah blah blah." I was totally happy with $10K but all the talk got me excided so I did it. I would have liked to have made it to $15K and stopped. I need to stay away from that MF forum.......

I am hoping to get at least one more CLI out of them to 7K.

Because myfico leads people to believe you simply get a CLI every 16 days which is not the case. Myfico takes every "trend" like this and turns it into bible. It's annoying.

I try to mention in every Discover thread there that the "16 day thing" is not a rule/guarantee, but some ignore me .

My ratio of total 2015 Discover spending to my CL is about 86%. That's spread over several months, and I made some mid-cycle payments, so it's certainly not 86% utilization.

I'm curious to learn how much others have been using their cards, relative to these big CLIs.

Most of purchases go onto my Discover unless I'm getting better cashback from another card. But out of curiosity when this Double Cashback Promo is over with I'm gonna use only one card each month for purchases and compare the cashback amongst them. Unless another Double Cashback Promo occurs in that time-span :)

You mean like the "definitive Amex 3x CLI guide" that is anything but definitive.

I like the double cash promo but my big spend with the card is always going to be gas and restaurants. I also seem to have always gotten my largest CLIs when I had a balance on the card. Not sure if that just luck or what they look for when granting them.
BoA Cash Rewards $13,000
Chase Sapphire Preferred $14,000
BoA Better Balance $12,000
Amex Every Day $24,000
Discover It $17,000
NFCU Platinum Visa $25,200
Barclay Arrival WMC $10,000
Cap One QuickSilver WMC $6,200
WF Cash back Visa Sig $11,000
Citi Thank You Premier $11,600
