Is 60 days sufficient time to ask for the first soft pull CLI on a discover? When I originally applied and talked to the rep (because I was bringing over a large B/T compared to approved line) the advice was to wait 90.

Not that one more month to wait would make/break it, but if you can do it after each statement is cut, per a response or two on this post...

I've heard 60 is ok now I know it used to be 90.

I think you have little to lose by giving it a shot they should tell you if it will be a HP.

Thanks for the heads up. My next statement posts by next week, as soon as that cuts I'll go for it. I'm two months in the garden so I won't take a HP for it, I'll just give it a SP attempt. My goal is to not do any new apps for the rest of the year and just grow CL of the cards I have.

They have always sent me balance transfer checks or emails about balance transfers that can be done online and these offers is after the promotional offer from opening an account. I no longer open new accounts just for the 0% promotion seeing as I always get the same offers with my current cards. Barclays and Chase usually send me the best offers with 1% or 2% fee for 15~18 months. I'm sure others here get alot of balance transfer offers after their card opening promotion.

You are right about potential AA from having massive credit limits in a single account. I do plan to close alot of cards I currently have from among various banks to keep my total available credit-to-income ratio balanced and lower my credit portfolio. I currently have a total of 14 credit cards and from those, I only really use 5 of them and the others I just use as a balance transfer for when I ever need one. Currently happy with my set of cards and after closing a few cards later this year, I'm done getting new cards. Only cards I really apply for these days are just for the cards that give a big bonus after meeting a spending threshold.

I forgot about the Sallie Mae BT checks. I called them many months ago and requested they stop sending them, which they did. It's a waste of paper and exposes me to more theft risk. The checks or BT offers on the website could be reasonable if someone can't get a Slate with "new account" APR/BT terms.

If you're only using about a third of your cards, then moving part of the BT cards' credit lines over to regular spending card from the same issuers might be a good idea (to make the everyday cards more useful).

Which cards are you thinking of closing?

Really not sure what I'll add next or when

I got a letter from Chase in the mail the other day. It looked like a marketing letter which I normally just drop in the recycle bin at the Post Office . I've started shredding more and now shred most everything that comes from any bank or financial institution that has my name on it. Anyway, I'm glad I opened this one as it was an invite to request a CLI on my CSP--no HP required. They provide a link and a code so I did it and now my CSP has a $1500 higher limit.

This has little to do with this thread but there is a commonality in consumer selectable SP CLI option.

Would this 16 day CLI work for someone like me? My Discover card is my oldest account which is close to a year old. I requested a CLI and was approved for $500.00 on Monday. I'd like to get it up a little closer to my Capital One or Amazon Rewards Card ($1500 and $2000, respectively). My Discover is sitting currently at $1250 (Not a big fan of the number).
Kohls: $300, Discover IT: $1.8k, Capital One Quicksilver: $2k, Amazon Store Card: $2.2k, BoA Cash Rewards: 1k, Chase Freedom: 3.2k, AMEX HHonors 3k

Well. For reference....my Discover started at a humble $1,800. A nearly useless limit for me personally but with a 637 EQ FICO I had no room to complain and was frankly chuffed at having been approved at all.

I didn't see an Auto-CLI until 5 1/2mos later.....for $200.....Thats right. I was now at $2,000 after using a BT offer.

Then the 16 day CLI was discovered and I am now at $6,000 after 2 $500 increases and 3 $1,000 increases.

Good work. My next 16 day date is next Tuesday so I will be hitting it then. I just want to get it over 10k before they close this down. As long as I get it to that, I'm fine.

I'd like to get to 10K as well but will likely keep going to 20K or the trick pony gets shot.
