Another Discover CLI

Postby MemberSince99 » Thu May 07, 2015 6:19 pm

I decided just because that's kind of guy I am to go for another CLI with Discover. I just got one a few weeks ago, I figured no way does this work, but I went in, requested, was asked income and employer name, hit it, and it gave me another 1000 so that brings me up to 7500 with Discover. No hard pull either.

I gotta keep feeding these guys swipes along the way. It's good to see them loosen up a bit.

Nice job man.

My CLIS have always been in the $500 range but your story shows that they can loosen up quite a lot long term.

How long have you had your Discover? I'm fearful that my substantial point drop (based on Discover and my other CC trackers telling me) is due to my high balance/limit on my Discover (it was a balance transfer, but to their credit they approved it). I've had my Discover almost 2 months...too soon for a CLI? Or 90 days maybe?

Discover is my one joint card, shared with a parent. There have been no CLIs (or requests for them). I think both account holders need to make a CLI request simultaneously for Discover to consider one. I'm not sure if they have to make hard pulls on one, both, or neither account holder. It hasn't been a priority, since $2k is an adequate limit.

A joint account with a spouse is one thing, if each person knows the other's spending well. In other situations, joint accounts can be complicated. 97% of the transactions are mine, which makes Discover worried about fraud on the other 3% (though they have been authorized transactions).

I wish I had waited a few months more and gotten one just in my name. That was before I joined this site, and I didn't realize CK's suggestions were just ads. Discover may be eager to have customers who are midway through rebuilding, but they didn't like me as an individual applicant with 4-5 months of clean history with Chase. Approving the first kind of customer, but flatly rejecting me as the second, seems odd to me.

Still, it's my second-oldest account, so I do plan to keep it.

I've had it since December. I've heard 90 days. And it seems based on my own experience and the experience others are reporting that a little over 2 weeks a pop after that MIGHT work. Nothing to lose by trying - worst they can say is no, and if it's going to be a hard they'll give you the option to accept that or not. I wouldn't accept a hard if it was offered but that's just me.

Good info, thanks. I won't accept a HP either, I'll be patient though and wait for 90 days lol (just one more month, and the following month I'll be up for my second CLI AMEX-hopefully 3x again)

I too just within the last two minutes got my second increase from them as well. I've had my It card since November, '14 and was given a 5500 cl to begin with. I received a 1700 auto cli at 90 days and just requested one online and was granted an additional 4000! I was stoked to say the least. Not my highest limit card but still always glad to have them in the 5 figures and only owing 43 dollars at statement is a bonus too. lol
