What is the best Discover IT offer?

Postby solomon » Fri Apr 03, 2015 3:59 pm

I just received a Discover IT offer for $150 cash back if $750 used within the first three months at 10.99% APR.

This is the best offer I have received, thus far...

Can anyone counter or find a better offer?

Offer valid until September of 2015.

This is by far the best offer I have ever seen. It used to be available through a link some time around the end of last year. $150 is the known best sign up bonus for Discover.
Citi Forward Visa $5000 10/2012 | American Express Blue Cash Everyday $8000 2/2014 | Discover it $7000 5/2014
Chase Freedom Visa Signature $7000 6/2014 | Citi ThankYou Premier Visa Signature $5000 1/2015
All EMV.

Awesome... I will save this and sign up in 2 months before September 2015, then, because I just signed up for a Sam's Club Mastercard on 3/4/2015 so I want some time to elapse before opening another account.

If you eat a lot at restaurants that aren't fast food, you might consider getting it this quarter. I think Discover's 5% restaurant category is pretty broad.

I see you're already covered for fast food and movies (depending on your fast food spending) but the 5% on non-fast-food dining might make it worth it to you.

I'm not using mine for restaurants, but only because Freedom overlaps with it and I can transfer URs.
Very useful: SchwabPlat, CSP, IHG, Costco (was AA Plat), Freedom, SPG
Somewhat useful: Discover, ED (was EDP), BCE, Hyatt, Arrival
May close or PC: Prestige, BrooksBros

Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold, First Tech

Honestly, I don't ever go to fast food places. But if I were to eat out, I can use either my Sam's Club Mastercard (3%, but recouping my money is a pain), or a US Bank Cash+ (2% restaurants, 5% fast food).

I want to sign up for the Discover It now, but I honestly just got my Sam's Club Mastercard on the 4th of March and I want to keep my credit score up.

Good point. 10.99% APR from the date of opening my account, but I have 1 year (12/2016) 0% APR with my AMEX Everyday Blue Cash.

I forgot about Sam's Club. 3% any time isn't much worse than 5% for just one quarter.

Your credit will take another hit from it, but unless you have a major credit event like a mortgage planned, you might want to get whatever cards you plan to have in place. CLIs can come with time.

How recent is that 805 in your avatar?

What is the Discover It redemption like?

The Sam's Club is a pain in the arse because it only occurs once a year and only available via check and cashed 'In Da Club'.
