I like US Bank Cash+ the best because it direct deposits into my bank account which is as good as cash.

Discover It has that option too. However, the best value you can get is partner gift cards. A lot of restaurants, stores have gift certificates on Discover at a discount price. For example, Starbucks has $50 for $45. Best value I've seen is $40 for rental car for only $20. You should consider this benefit too.
All my posts are my opinions. All my posts mentioned "you" are merely for discussion-purpose only. No advice is given in any post at any time. It is also impossible for me to put effort to verify every statement that anyone has given.

Some of those gift card partners participate in Discover Deals or similar programs, so a discounted retail gift card might not really save much money. Other gift cards, especially travel-related ones, have strings attached that greatly limit their utility.

I may get some 20%-discounted gift cards for LL Bean or Brooks Bros, but they only seem slightly better than cash.

Edit: Although I suppose if you can find one gift card partner that is a great value for you, then that's all you need.

Problem with the rental GC is that you can't use other discounts with it typically.

Otherwise, For Starbucks GC I can get a better deal buying them on GC Spread. 11-18% in my experience.
