Do you have a balance transfer offer from Discover? I don't see why that'd be a problem. I recently did one with my BoA card without a hitch. It's just the CC company mailing out a check to whatever card company that you have a balance with and paying it. Just be sure to make sure you have Amex's correct address and everything and it should go through fine.

No, I want to apply for the Discover It and transfer an amount from my AmEx BCE since my intro offer is over. I wasn't sure how it worked since I've only done it once (AmEx to Chase). Thank you!

Can you make a balance transfer from an AmEx to a Discover card? Yes.

That said, it depends on (1) Approval for the Discover IT card (2) the credit limit granted and (3) the amount you want to transfer from AMEX BCE to Discover IT.

Why wouldn't you? Have you read Discover's BT terms? Everything you need to know is in there. If you're having trouble finding it on the Discover site there's a link on the page for the Discover it labeled
*See rates, rewards and other info which leads to:
https://www.discovercard.com/application/terms?srcCde=KB48&mboxSession=1416494437013-760508

The relevant text is:
BALANCE TRANSFERS: This offer applies to balance transfers that post to your account by 2/10/2015. It takes at least 14 days after your account is opened to process payments to your other accounts. You may cancel a balance transfer at any time prior to that by calling 1-800-347-2683. Continue to make all required payments to your other accounts until you confirm that the balance transfers were made. Balance transfers may not be used to pay any Discover accounts and do not earn rewards. You may transfer any amount, up to your credit available for transfers, which may be less than your total credit line. If your balance transfer request will exceed your available credit, we will process your transfers for less than the amount requested, in the order requested. You may only make balance transfers to accounts that list you as an accountholder. There is no grace period on balance transfers. The minimum payment requirement can cause promotional balances to be paid in full prior to the end of the promotional period. You can avoid paying interest on new purchases if you pay your entire balance by the due date each month. This means that, unless your purchase APR is at a promotional 0% APR, you will pay interest on new purchases if you do not pay the balances you transfer under this offer in full by the first payment due date. See your Cardmember Agreement for details.

There are no exclusions for BT's from American Express.

Again, how it works is always outlined in the terms. Make sure you read and understand that stuff. They provide that just for kicks.

Alright. I think you should apply for the card and go from there. What's stopping you?
