Amex uses overseas call centers, while Discover provides 100% USA customer services. I once talked with an Amex CSR and immediately recognized she came from India or somewhere around. Fortunately the voice was clear and there was little problem for me to understand. The fact they kind of like outsource customer service department may be why sometimes they can be less knowledgeable than expected.

What I am happy about Amex right now is that they give more generous limits than Discover. As my second card, they can give a college student 8k; Discover, coming third, 2k. Also they can UPS cards for free so when I requested a chip version for my BCE I could receive it next day. Can't say about reading script, as there has never been any "complex" issues coming to me that need to be serviced.
Citi Forward Visa $5000 10/2012 | American Express Blue Cash Everyday $8000 2/2014 | Discover it $7000 5/2014
Chase Freedom Visa Signature $7000 6/2014 | Citi ThankYou Premier Visa Signature $5000 1/2015
All EMV.

I also enjoy the fact that they will Fedex or UPS cards to you if lost/stolen/unreadable.

Chase also seems to do this if you call the CSP line.

Anyone know when they usually post up the cashback calender for the next year? I'm waiting for that to see if I want to apply for the IT.

*edit* nvm, https://www.discovercard.com/cardmembersvcs/acqs/app/display?pageFileId=listingsite-cbb&sc=KDF8&cmpgnid=ls-dca-cj-consumer-it-kdf8-dtop&aid=11992862&pid=1225267&sid=fa163bb717b6426488ce681b1c9d8eed#launchCalendar

Looks like Gas/taxis/bus first quarter, restaurants 2nd, home 3rd, shopping 4th. Guess we'll have to see what Freedom looks like for 2015.
Current Strategy

Chase Freedom + Discover IT + Churning

Absolutely. Thank you for finding that BTW. I hope the Freedom calendar has gas on a different Q for when we spill over on the Sallie Mae.
