let us know when Discover gives you an auto CLI.. they took about a year to increase mine but i didnt/dont use the card much..

Try aiming for swipes rather than to place large transactions they seem to like that better!

Congratulations! Personally, I find Discover's categories more useful than Chase Freedom's anyway (although I would have made good use of 2 gas quarters).

I agree with fosusing on swipes. Discover was generous with me after about 5 months with a $2,300 (55%) CLI. I don't have a ton of spending, but I put everything I can through it (more than 1 transaction a day on average). And if you don't get an auto-CLI after a while, don't be afraid to request one.

Hope you enjoy the card.

Congrats - it is a great card.

I use mine a bit irregularly. I haven't really made good use of their special offers, but I like knowing I can get discounts when I shop at certain websites sooner or later.

I've had my card a full six months and have not gotten an automatic CLI (nor have I requested one). I put some big charges on there, but usually only use it maybe 7 or 8 times a month.

With all the special offers available, the rewards rate can be really high, but sometimes special offers are similar to what you could have gotten on the merchant's website, anyway, without a Discover.

Congratulations. It's one of the best cards in the market today. Keep using it and keeping your statement balances low (pay off ahead), and you'll do well.

I love my Discover. It is a great card and if you pay your balance in full every month the cash back you earn is truly free money. You will get CLIs on a regular basis if you use your card often, pay in full every month and ask for CLIs every 6 months after the first auto CLI. I have had my card for 5.5 years and now am up to $15,500.00. Started with 2500.00
Fico Scores 05/25/2015
Equifax 766
TransUnion 788
Experian 797

Over $140,000 in credit across 12 cards.

I just got approved as well! $6500 cl. Honestly I was shocked after reading posts that they can be a bit stingy - this is a higher limit than I have on my card I have had for almost 8 years!

Usually, it is easier to get a big CL when getting a new card than by getting a CLI on an existing card.

Why? I don't know. You'd think a bank with a (presumably good) customer of 8 years would try to keep you.

Hmm that is interesting. My current card is Citi...if that makes a difference. And yes, I am a good customer :) . But the Discover is about to become my every day card, for sure. I will put just enough on the Citi card to keep it active since its one that earns miles and if I don't continue earning them, they go away. I haven't been diligent about asking for CLI with Citi though - I think all of mine have been auto increases. I am learning so much just from my short time reading this forum.
