Discover sent a $5 eGift card to me

Postby PlyrStar93 » Tue Sep 16, 2014 5:21 pm

Discover sent an eGift card via Email, with Starbucks Card Number and PIN.

Checked this forum and others, and Discover sent eGift cards in the past as well.

I am not sure why they sent this. Anyone else received it recently? Did they send any gift cards other than Starbucks?

So this is around my fourth month. Me rarely go to Starbucks either, so I'm not sure if I'll just send it away.

I got one as well, probably around my 3rd or 4th month. As far as I can tell (Discover replies to a lot of people on Twitter than tweet about those eGifts) it is just something they do to new members as a perk/thank you. Or perhaps it is entirely random. I would guess there are some minimal requirements, like regular usage and keeping the account in good standing.

No idea if they send them out later on, but I guess I will find out eventually. I would love to get another - and to find out if there is anything one can do to trigger it.

I got one too a Starbucks gift card. I looked at it as that was my CLI, or their way of saying no 3 month CLI for you. I thought nice gesture but if you wanna be like Cap One that still doesn't impress me. Actually from what I hear Cap One actually gives CLIs now.

I've gotten a physical card from Discover before for Starbucks. Seems like they do it randomly as a "Thank you" for card holders.

I got my Starbucks card the other week and used it. Pretty nice of them. Now a CLI would be nice in exchange.

I got the same Starbucks $5 e-card in July, so about 4 months after I opened the account.

If there's a 6-month auto CLI, it should come within a few weeks.
Love: IHG, Platinum, Sallie Mae, AA Plat, CSP
Like: Discover, ED, BCE, Hyatt, Arrival, Freedom
Might drop: BrooksBros, Prestige (Costco PC?)
Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when
