Anniversary CLI

Postby jrmsu » Wed Sep 10, 2014 5:40 pm

This month is my 1 year anniversary with Discover. I checked my account last night and noticed my credit limit was higher. This morning I got an email from them that my CL had been increased by $800. It is not much, but it is my third CLI from Discover. I wonder if Discover will continue giving me automatic CLIs or if they pretty much stop after the first year.
My Cards:

Discover It - $8,450 (9/13)
BankAmericard Cash Rewards Visa Signature - $5,000 (4/14)
Chase Freedom - $3,000 (5/14)
AMEX Hilton HHonors - $16,500 (6/14)

Mine dates back to late March, and the link is also inactive. It might become available at the 6-month anniversary.

I don't expect much, given infrequent use of the card.

My last increase from discover was for 20 times that. I don't know why people think discover doesn't give high limits....

Discover has certainly been good to me. I started out with a low limit and high interest rate three years ago and now I have a much higher CL and my standard APR is now 10.24. Thank you Discover!

If you aren't seeing auto-CLIs in the future, call them up and see what they can do for you. I've gotten one increase (and a substantial one, too) with them from calling to ask for it. I hadn't even had the card for six months at the time. I put absolutely everything I can through Discover, though, so that may be why they showed me some love back.

If you call, they can do just an internal analysis of your account with no hard pulls. So even if you request one down the road and they deny you, you've got nothing to lose.

For how long did you have your card before you closed it?

Which one? I had several. I think I went 7 months on the longest. I took a while but finally figured out we just aren't a good match. That's just how it goes I guess.
