I want a sign up bonus

Postby Luxe » Tue Aug 12, 2014 4:52 am

Thinking about getting a Discover card but can't bring myself to do it when the best sign up bonus is $75 Amazon credit. Meanwhile all these other cards are offering at least $100 cash. The Discover link for the $150 bonus is still up though it redirects to the bonusless page so it doesn't look active. Wonder if they'd honor it if I talked to them.

I was fortunate enough to get the $150 sign up bonus. It is the best I recall seeing for non-AF cards. You should call them up and give it a shot; it can't hurt. I have had nothing but great experiences with their CSRs. The worst they can do is tell you no.

My guess is that at the end of year they MIGHT offer such things. Otherwise you MIGHT have a mail offer having sign up bonus. Looks like Discover doesn't provide sign up bonuses as much as others. I personally have never got a sign up bonus from them, nor do I know about any sign up bonuses in the Discover mail.

If you want something back after sign up anyway, then apply through Amazon--get $75 gift card within 8 weeks after first purchase.
Citi Forward Visa $5000 10/2012 | American Express Blue Cash Everyday $8000 2/2014 | Discover it $7000 5/2014
Chase Freedom Visa Signature $7000 6/2014 | Citi ThankYou Premier Visa Signature $5000 1/2015
All EMV.

I didn't get a signup bonus, but I don't recall using Amazon much in February and March so I might have missed it. I certainly didn't get anything in the mail from Discover.

The only reason I got a sign up bonus was because Nismo referred me.

$50.00 and 15 months at 0% instead of $0.00 and 14 months are 0%.

you need to recall two months ago, CHASE Freedom was doing $200 bonus without AF. Amex BCE also has been handing out $250 bonus without AF

Those are pretty good. I haven't been actively looking since I got my Discover card 6 months ago. When I was shopping around the best I found after Discover's was $100 I think.
