I read the blog on here about it, it's 2% for gas and groceries only up to 1k a quarter and 1% for everything else. I thought well that's kind of underwhelming. It kind of hit me with a "blah" rather than a bang. There are a number of cards out there that do better than that so you might as well just get the IT and get 5% rotating.

I almost wanted to change to this card thinking it would be an upgrade but I'm fine with what I have now, especially with those rotating categories.

Eh, I'll stick with my Amazon.com Visa. With it you not only get 2% back on gas and restaurants, but also 2% back at office supply stores and drug stores, not to mention 3% back on Amazon orders and 1% everywhere else. Plus, it's a Visa, so it's more widely accepted than Discover. (I know that Discover is accepted widely now, but sometimes you do run into merchants who only accept MC/Visa.)

Do you get an Amazon Prime discount with the Amazon Visa card? I have seen AMEX offers for 1 free year of Amazon Prime if approved for the BCE. I'm just wondering - I don't shop on Amazon enough to benefit from it.

Far as I know, the only "discount" the Visa offers with Prime is the usual 3% back on Amazon charges. BUT you do get an Amazon gift card upon approval ($30-50, it always seems to fluctuate between the two). It's added to your account instantly after approval.

There is another way to get Prime, though. Do you know anyone with it? If so, they can add you as a guest to their account, and you can get the benefits of the subscription.
