i read this last week and bookmarked it because it made me think of this site. read this article in the uk daily mirror about credit card fraud in the united kingdom.
On the trail of credit card sharks - Investigations no wonder there is so much credit card fraud going on! the police don't care and the cardholders don't care because they aren't responsible for the charges. no one cares and that is why all this fraud goes on. |

Sadly, that article didn't surprise me. But I was surprised to see that some small to mid-level website would get an average of a 100 fake credit card orders a day. That's a huge amount of fraud going on.

Here in the United States the laws are very strict against credit card fraud with tough punishment. As mentioned in that article the problem is our law enforcement is not motivated enough to catch the criminals. This should come as now shock with the overall laziness of police officers to enforce the real laws. Instead they would rather spend their time harassing people for speeding or parking illegally. It's all about the money to them. If a crime doesn't bring in revenue in the form of fees for tickets, they have little incentive to go after them.
