Default Citi credit card dispute, they're being a real pain in my arse

So i purchased a large machine about 10 grand buying equipment for my repair business. $1300 was on a machine for repairs, the machine did not work as advertised. Many people with the same machine had problems. The merchant gave me a hassle for a while. I called citi to dispute the charge which they did. The merchant told them i still have the item and i need to return it. I told citi that it would cost alot to ship it since its a very huge and heavy item. Citi said either ship it back or we cant help you.

I had my lawyer send them a letter 2 months ago, they did not respond so he sent them another letter.

    Any suggestions or comments?

Seems to me your issue is with the merchant and/or the manufacturer, not the bank. Disputing the charge usually means you believe the transaction was fraudulent ie. identity theft. Since you clearly bought the machine why get Citi's fraud unit involved? Why won't you ship it? Since it did not work are you expecting to keep the broken machine for free? What is the end result you want - I imagine to have a functioning machine and everyone's happy. If it is a warranty issue you need to send it in for repairs and file a claim with the manufacturer for shipping costs.

It should be a CC issue. I expected a working item that i ordered, i received a defective item. I have no problem shipping it. However i dont want to pay to ship it, why should i when i ordered a working item. It will cost about $90 to ship it. If i dont have to pay to ship it, i will return it right away. The machine is currently in my attic unused, obviously since its broken. I purchased a new machine from another source which works great.

The merchant refuses to do anything. Which is why i escalated the case to Citi.

Wow thats horrible and I just got a card with citi, maybe I'm gonna skip on it and not use it. Thats why I love discover and Amex and use their cards frequently.

What is the merchant's return policy? If the policy is you pay for shipping $90 seems like a deal compared to $1300.

Is it broken or not working as advertised? Those will usually mean different charges for returned items.

Xbox it is both a merchant and CC issue but i have to agree with LT that i think you will have better luck working with the Merchant and definitely get the manufacturer involved. All the banks can do with disputes is get you your money back for un-authorized transactions but in this case you made the purchase. Get the BBB involve as well.
I hope it all work out for you
