Default Kilpatrck charged almost $300k to city credit card

Did anyone here about that corrupt mayor from Detroit that took a plea bargain today? Man that guy is such scum.

Get this- on the city-issued credit card he paid for trips to the Bahamas, Jamaica, France, South Africa, and more. He was staying like places like the Four Seasons and eating at the most expensive restaurants and first class flights, not to mention the expensive wines, spas, massages and leasing cars for his family members. How are any of these things related to and needed for his job as a mayor of a US city?!?!

The whole thing is that's not even what he was in trouble for... that's just the icing on the cake. The reason he's going to jail is conspiracy, perjury involving his affairs and there was talk of conspiracy for murder. His plea bargain was for two felony counts of obstruction of justice. Guy is a douche glad to see him get what he deserves!!!!

Today's headlines are even more disturbing:
Quote:
In the end, Kwame Kilpatrick went to jail Tuesday showing no remorse, shaking his head as a judge chastised him for his crimes, smiling at family and friends, at times clowning with the prosecutors who helped put him behind bars.
To think this con artist had the nerve to swindle a city like Detroit which is already broke and is facing some of the biggest challenges in their entire history. However what's more damaging than the stolen money is the lack of leadership during his tenure. This is a public servant who was supposed to be serving the citizens, not himself.

I have no idea who this guy is I didn't hear about this until reading it here. He sounds as crooked as a Wall St. CEO. If they are not going to fully punish people like them they will keep doing it again. That is why this country is so upside down right now because we keep leeting them get away with this stuff.

We are seeing this behavior more and more with everyone in higher level positions, whether they work for the government or private sector. Just think how much the Wall Street CEO's are doing it with their company credit cards. If we were to count that money as their income too, their compensation would be even more crazy than the numbers they officially release.

On Lou Dobbs they just said something about this Kilpatrick guy and others in Michigan getting out of jail early because of state budget crunch. This guy went to jail what seemed like yesterday and now he can get out. There is no longer any crime deterrent. Should I go commit credit card fraud too? I could go be a crook and steal 5 years salary and then get out of jail after a couple months and not work for the other 4+ years while I live off my stolen money. Without jobs that is what more will start doing as long as there is not any real jail time anymore.
