How to choose a credit card fraud attorney
I am here today to talk about a horrible nightmare my wife and I encountered due to credit card fraud. Close to $22,000 in fraudulent transactions were made and the credit card co. and their attorney tried holding us responsible for $19,000 by arguing we had pre-authorized the charges in the contract with the merchant.
Later we found the agreement we signed with the merchant was not legal in the state. The seller's defense was that what he sold was a franchising right and that was not it. We paid the money for equipment that was never received. We had tried to get a credit card fraud attorney but had difficult finding one in our area. The attorneys we had consulted with knew little about credit card fraud law and the fees we would have paid would have exceeded the amount we were trying to collect.
We got our money back on our own after months of haggling and ultimate that was based on the legality of the purchase agreement and what we were buying. I have my fingers crossed this will be a one time event but I would like to ask the board how one goes about choosing a credit card fraud attorney for cases such as this. Are there lawyers that specialize solely in credit card law and are they permitted to work across state lines are my two questions I will start this discussion with.

We had initially tried sites like that but discovered them to be of no help. We would come across attorney listings claiming credit card fraud was their practice but later discover the firm had listed almost every area of law as the firm's specialty. Does this site operate differently to prevent such spam listings?

They're a publisher of legal help books for lay persons. They might have publications with info on cc fraud that could help you. I've found their products to be useful.
