My First Credit Card Fraud!

Postby Ikarus » Sat Mar 08, 2014 11:25 am

How does a credit card sock drawered for a year-- except a quick charge at Walgreens in Dec to keep it active -- get swiped?

I don't know. But that's what happened. A few days ago, some bum tried to run up the card getting apps and jewelry online. Frivolous stuff, really. Cap One caught it. We spoke to confirm the fraud. The account is now restricted. The card is in my possession.

I'm about to request credit line increases on my cards and had always wanted to drop that card and have it's credit line merged with the card I wanted to keep -- and upgrade it to the Quicksilver.

What's the best way to navigate this?
Merrick Bank (Hooters) 4100
Cap One Quicksilver 2800
Discover it 2500
Citi Forward 5400
Chase Freedom 1000
AMEX Blue Cash Everyday 5500
Citi Dividend 5600
Cap One Visa Platinum 750 (CLOSED)

Congrats +1!!!!!!

Seriously isn't it obvious? Through the EO. That's about the ONLY way I know of with them, nothing else has much success.

A lot of people have been getting success recently from the online CLI request.

Wow then they are doing things very differently than they did a few years back when I last dealt with them. At that time the odds of that being successful were probably about the same as finding a snowball in hell. Good to hear they are loosening up a bit then.
