Otter have you seen any other issues with this card?

I'm planning to not use it until they get things squared away. All that I read about kind of freaked me out a little and left me feeling less than secure about it and about trying to use it. Just wondering if you had tried to use it and been declined?

I just checked online and it LOOKS normal - same 15k limit, no messages, but I wouldn't really trust it.

Just read a guy on FICO said he applied, score 788, denied by OCCU for "unable to verify identity of applicant", he calls and they tell him they only accept members of the credit union. But of course they don't tell you that when you apply, so it's a wasted inquiry.

I'm starting to think the card itself is a waste. It's out of my wallet, not sure whether to close it and move on or just leave it sit until they get around to it. I sure won't be using it, not with what I've read.

I think they are trying to get as many people to close their account as possible voluntarily. I think if enough people do, things will go back to normal with the Duck Card. I think they overextended themselves and issued too much credit and now they are trying to backpedal.

That's the impression I get too. But after this I just don't trust them to be honest. What kind of business issues a bunch of cards they can't cover then does damage control and how can we feel like doing business with a company that does that? I really don't, and I may just take them up on it and close the card. I really wanted to keep it long term before this, but now I just don't trust them and it's not like I need it anyway. Just sucks with the inquiry hit and the AAoA but maybe that will be a small price in the end. I'm giving serious thought to just closing this one and moving on. Doesn't do me a lot of good since I'm afraid to use it anyway.

After sleeping on it, I'm leaning towards just closing it, writing off OCCU and moving on. And remembering that in the future to stick to the big boys and stay the hell away from CUs which seem to be too flaky and unstable for my tastes.

That's my gut feeling on it. If they really don't want us (non-members of the CU and I can't join I'm 2000 miles away) as customers then why trouble them. I just wish they had figured that out BEFOREHAND which is what leaves a bad taste in my mouth about them.

I'm kind of stuck with it right now since it is my only 5-digit CL which looks good to other creditors I suppose. Once I get another $10,000+ account, I do plan on closing the Duck Card since the rewards aren't that great and there is still that uncertainty with what they pan on doing with cardholders who aren't OCCU members. I am making the assumption that they don't cut me off first which is a pretty big assumption.

I'm kind of in the same boat in a sense - it's my second largest limit, which is honestly the ONLY thing stopping me from closing it right now. Again they could shut it down any time and if they do, well then they do and the problem is solved. Learn a lesson to stick with the big boys and stay away from CUs you never heard of before. But that's the only reason I haven't done it. It's too big a limit to just lose. But I really don't trust them so it's not like I'm going to use the card, it's just filler for now so hopefully it encourages others to give CLIs. Once I get another card or two to that level, I'll close if they haven't already done it.

So basically we are both just keeping it due to the limit. If it was say 5k, I'd have already closed it out and made their day.

Duck is now closed. They seemed almost as happy as Cap One to close a card. I just wanted to move on. Lesson learned here - stick with the big boys the small fish aren't worth the hassle.

The CSR asked why I was closing - I know the answer doesn't really matter and to speed things along I simply said I don't really need it any more, which is true, hardly the full story but why bother, going into the details would be as productive as trying to shine a turd into gold or milking a rock in the yard.
