Someone reported on fico they had a $20k limit and it was knocked down to $3500. People still haven't had their cards turned back on. I personally think OCCU didn't anticipate this much demand. At first, they were probably happy their new cards were a smashing success, and then someone realized the bottom line might not be so good. If you consider how many people have posted they've received generous CL's from them and that there are probably 100X as many lurkers (or people who have heard from a friend) who have gotten cards... it might be more than a <1 billion dollars in assets CU can handle, especially when you consider everyone is getting 6, 9, 12 months of 0% interest.

I was just kidding about gardening I saw your FICO message.

Yeah I think you may be right. It would be disappointing I was planning to keep that card but if they slash me like that, it's so closed, I mean just close it altogether so I don't have to call and do it.

I do understand where they are coming from and their right to do that but maybe it would be good to just not give out all those cards in the first place if that's an issue? Just saying.

But we are just speculating. Still it does kind of sound that way.

By the way, this pretty much makes the case for it being a good idea not to have all of your eggs in one lender's basket, so to speak. Diversity is a smart move. This way when something like this happens, even though your card isn't available for a week, you have something else to fall back on.

So, 25 or 30 seems nuts to me, but so does 1 when you think about this.

I'd love to see their reaction if Comenity got hacked. "No shopping cart trick for one day?!" **head explodes**

I'm beginning to think of "the shopping cart trick" as methadone for the app junkies on FICO. They get to app, but without the HP's.

Does that mean they can keep their bronze spade then and not go back to seedling? After all they didn't technically app, they just accepted the offer.

And since they didn't app, it must be hell not to fill out the form questions, hit "Submit" and sweat bullets wondering what the result will be. How can you get your fix without that?

Sometimes to cure the need for app'ing I go to the Amex site, and fill out an application for the Plat card. It knows who I am, and will only let me sneak around it to get there, but when I do it always catches me and I get an error. But I still get the contented rush of applying for the card without a pull or the annual fee.

I just checked my Duck and it still shows a 15k line. I wonder if they are still whacking those limits down.

According to someone on FICO, they have changed their terminology and are no longer talking about accounts being "compromised" but saying they are "under review". Something strange is going on... I checked my account (and made a small online purchase). I'm still at 10k and the purchase was approved.

I'm not going to use the Duck until this all gets straightened out one way or the other. They've kind of scared me off with what I've been reading. Maybe it's best to avoid the small fish who aren't as stable and just run with the big boys.

Have you read all the posts in that thread? Wow. That sounds really bad.

Some of the FICO people are like us - I just read a signature there that read "the beatings will continue until morale improves". Had to laugh at that one!
