I had a family member open a credit card in my name using a bank account they they obtained using a family trust. I'm in the process of filing a police report is there any advise on what step to follow?

The police report is the first step the next step is contacting the credit bureaus and notifying them of identity theft and freezing your credit to prevent the thief from obtaining more cards in your name. Find out what company they got the card with contact them and let them know what happened and deal with it proactively.

Hopefully the creditor will be able to verify with you what has happened and be able to press charges for fraud against the identity thief.

Good luck.
