Fraudulent charges on Chase Amazon, they didn't notify me

Postby gmonox » Fri Aug 16, 2013 6:20 pm

I logged onto my Chase account today, and saw that there was a $45 balance on a card I haven't used since last month, on the other side of the country. I guess it was a restaurant in Orlando, charged yesterday. Strangely, Chase never notified me, I had to call them up today and report the fraud. They changed my account number and sent me a new card.

Anyone have experience with Chase credit card fraud? Do the charges normally just get reversed? I'm thinking I might just ask to close the account and have my CL switched over to the Freedom or CSP, but I assume I have to wait for the dispute process to finish before I can do that.

Just to add as well, not all cards call with fraud alerts. If the spend activity looks like your history, they may have just assumed you were traveling. I actually had my physical card stolen and it didn't flag due to them being locations I might have gone (Target, Best Buy, etc). You've called and reported them and gotten a new card, that's about all you can do at this point.
