My first fraud charges

Postby Marcov719 » Thu Aug 08, 2013 11:25 am

Never thought it would happen to me but looks like I was a victim of two fraudulent charges this morning. I received two emails from AmEx letting me know that someone in foreign country made two charges to my PRG card. I called AmEx to inquire about these two transaction and she stated these two transaction came from Great Britain. I said well I'm not there. She laughed and said well lets you get you a new card. Very nice experience overall with this rep and I will be having a new card tomorrow.

However, one thing that I couldn't understand is that before calling I noticed these two charges weren't showing up under pending. AmEx rep did say that if they do post I need to call back again though.

I wonder how these people got my card number and used it.

Whether or not the fraudulent charge shows as pending depends on what stage it was caught at.

Too many possibilities to list.

Yeah I'm sure. Friend was telling me back when he was a store manager for a retail store they caught an employee swiping customers CC into some kind of machine that stores their CC info. Pretty crazy stuff. It's almost like something out of a movie.

Just be careful if you use your card at a seedy kinda place, lots of thieves out there who will steal your info....

True, and I actually never use my AmEx at bars anyway or any CC for that matter. I bring in cash with me whenever I go out with friends to bars.

I believe the proper reaction would be to buy beers on someone else's card. ;)
