Some fraudulent charges were made on my Amex Platinum last June. They were all made in one day. The funny thing is I had gotten a call a few days prior inquiring if some other charges were valid–they all were.
When I noticed the true fraudulent charges, somewhere to the tune of $550, I called and reported it immediately. They over-nighted me a new card and asked me to identify all the charges in question but said I had to wait until my statement closed to dispute the charges. No problem except in this case that happened to be two weeks after deployed to Africa.
Fast-forward nine months and much procrastination…I finally called to follow-up. The CSR was very friendly and helpful, and didn’t judge me for waiting so long, and she informed me I was 100% covered against fraud. She took the fraudulent charge info and said it would be taken care of. It’s been several days and no credits yet but they may be waiting for my statement to close–not sure.
So far my experience has been good. It will turn to great if a $550 credit appears on my account without having to call back
