Do you sign your credit cards?

Postby Randiesel75 » Tue Jan 08, 2013 4:18 pm

I am curious what the community does with the card signature section. Do you sign your card, write SEE ID or leave blank?

I personally never sign my name as I feel it makes it easier for someone to copy your signature if they do obtain your card. I used to leave the signature section blank, but now I put SEE ID.

I do. I'd rather take a chance on them copying my signature, than on them copying my ID which could REALLY screw me.

I just leave it blank. It says "not valid unless signed." So that means I'm not responsible for any of the charges right? ;-)

I use "See ID". Although only 1 out of 7 or 8 merchants actually acknowledge it and ask for my ID.

I sign them although no cashiers EVER look. Only once has anyone asked to see my ID when I used a credit card, and when it happened I was quite surprised. I was under the impression that if you don't sign them and someone else makes fraudulent charges on the card, you'd be liable for the charges, but if your card is signed, the credit card company will fight it and not hold you responsible. I don't remember where I heard that, or how true it is.
