Using credit cards in Hong Kong safely?

Postby FastSRT8 » Fri Apr 20, 2012 6:23 pm

Guys / Gals,

I'm going to Hong Kong. Any tips for how to protect myself from being a victim of fraud? Things to look out for?

I plan to use my credit card as much as possible so I can have buyer protection BUT I also don't want to be targeted for fraud or ripped of as I am clearly not from Hong Kong and as a tourist I know we are easy targets.

Thanks Irvine...

I have a completely modified Cherokee SRT8. Pushes over 500 hp to the wheels. About 700+ crank HP.

Cheers

I've been to Hong Kong a few times, and never had any problems with fraud when using my credit card. You will be approached all the time, by people who wanna sell you suits and fake watches, just stay away from them, and you will be fine.
American Express Platinum
HSBC Platinum Master Card
Citi Diamond Preferred Master Card

Pay cash for the street vendor purchases, and use your card for everything else. You'll be just fine.

Actually you can get some very good suits within Hong Kong. I can't think of the name of it, but the tailor inside of the Mandarin Oriental is quite nice.

Thanks JCarter! I'll make sure to drop by and check them out. I am looking for some new suits.

Good luck. Very reasonable prices with high quality bespoke tailoring. A-Man Hing Cheong Co., Ltd. That's who you want to see.

Of course! Canadians rely upon Blackberries! =P My firm took mine away about a year ago and gave me an iPhone and a 20 year old kid to program it all.
