Filing a credit card dispute for a counterfeit item?

Postby Susan » Sat Mar 31, 2012 1:57 am

I had purchased something more than a year ago, and JUST recently found out that it is actually a counterfeit item (big shock to me too).

Is it still possible for me to file a dispute? what is the process like? Is there ANYTHING I can do to get my $ back? I still have all the emails exchanged and an authenticator is willing to provide an official letter...

Your advice is greatly appreciated!!!

Was this purchased in person or via the internet?

You can file a formal complaint with the FBI field office concerning counterfeit goods and trademark infringement. Use that to file your dispute, if it was purchased online.

If done in person, then proceed with a local police report and file charges for Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses (or a similar worded charge in your jurisdiction).
