$2500 in unauthorized charges for airline tickets

Postby 2percentPlus » Sun Mar 25, 2012 5:19 pm

Just reviewed my account online and saw two pending charges for Air Senegal for $1700 and a posted charge for $500 or so from Austrian Air, something like that. Called to cancel the card and they said they also declined a charge for Dragon Air Hong Kong.

I LOVE how they say "we constantly monitor your account for fraud", and then proceed to tell me that they infact declined a suspicious charge to Dragon Air, but didn't bother letting me know about that or Air SENEGAL?

No idea how they got this card number, I very rarely use it online with PayPal

WOAH!
that is awful. Maybe you should ask for a new card?
Cards in my wallet:
-Citi Forward Card for College Students-July 2011
-American Express Platinum Delta Skymiles--July 2013

Yeah, it was cancelled and they said give them about 5-7 days for a new card to arrive, "is that ok?" I said no, they said we can expedite it for $15.

I gave them a few suggestions, they put me on hold and came back to say that it would arrive Fedex early AM next day if I'm available to sign for it and no fee.

I still have to sign some fraud package and have this go on some type of record of mine I suppose.

You'll sign a victim of fraud affidavit (or by this time, have already signed it). Depending on the issuer, you may need to get a notary to witness it.

It doesn't go on record anywhere except for the issuer.

Did you recently use the card at a restaurant or something where it was out of your presence at all?
