Why was my credit card declined? (keeps happening!)

Postby sunline1 » Mon Sep 19, 2011 12:39 pm

Can someone explain to me why all of a sudden my GM credit card declined to accept charges for my verizon wireless bill ??

The only way they with accept the charge is, if I call the GM card, and then talk to the Security dept., they need to clear it, every time.

Has anyone else experienced this problem ??

Any info appreciated.

Thank you

The account was flagged as fraud and they want to know it was you using the card. After the initial verification is complete, you should no longer encounter an issue with this merchant (at least not more than twice).

Thanks for the reply.

I talked to security today, they authorized the payment, this is the 2nd time/month in a row.

Hopefully I won't have another issue.

Been using the same card for several years to pay my Verizon Bill, no problems untill now ?

I hear ya, my energy company charged me twice for return payments after my charges were declined by my card provider for possible fraud. (I know, I know it should be illegal but i was too busy with work an school to fight)
The thing with scammers is they can use a card for a while (low-key) and before you can say BAZINGA :) , the damage is done. I know it is a nuisance but they’re looking out for your interest.

And then there is my father who caught a fraudulent charge of $1.94 on a card with more than 100 transactions a month. Apparently it was a test charge, because they tried to use it again after he closed the card. Granted, my father is a bit anal retentive.
