Credit Card Scammers - Really?

Postby Bacon » Thu Sep 08, 2016 3:47 pm

First Orion just came out with a new study that estimated that consumers receive over 30 million spam mobile calls per day and, based on their survey, about 4% of consumers give away their credit card information to a scammer. This would be about 15 million Americans, which is twice the number from their study last year. People are becoming less cautious?

It's probably just an issue with generalization. Even small fluctuations in sample data can appear enormous if the findings are applied to an entire population. Most of these surveys are done with "convenience sampling", which don't make for terribly representative samples (but are cheap and easy to conduct).

People getting more eager for getting things free is the reason for increasing scams. If we choose not to fall victims to our greed, this won't be happening. High time, internet frauds be taught well at schools.

From what you're referring to (please provide links): ... effective/

One of the reasons is more people are getting harassed by more scams.
