Charge back due to no refund - 2 weeks later refund shows up

I bought some tickets for an event that was cancelled and got an email from the venue saying that I would get a refund in 4 weeks. I called the box office to ask if the the 4 week timeframe was true and they said over the phone it would take 4 to 6 weeks for them to issue me a refund.

So I waited 6 weeks and still no refund, so I did a dispute / charge back on my cap1 card. Within a few days cap1 issues me a 'Purchase Adjustment' and had credited my account back the cost of the tickets. Cap1 sent me a message saying that the dispute was closed so I did not think much of it.

Today I was looking at my account and I see that 2 weeks after Cap1 credited my account I now have a refund from the venue.

So now I actually have been credited twice and not sure who best to contact. Do I have cap1 cancel the purchase adjustment or do I call the venue and have them cancel the refund? I am worried that if I cancel the purchase adj thru cap1, the venue at some point might cancel the refund and then put me right back where I stared. Or do I just wait for a month or so and see if the venue figures it out and recharges me for the tickets?

Has anyone else gone thru something like this? Thanks for any help.

I would wait several weeks. The chargeback could be reversed or the refund could be reversed or they could charge you again. Most likely I think the chargeback will be reversed, however, it is also possible that the venue doesn't know about or ever find out about the overlap issue.

In my opinion, it is their fault for both having a terrible refund policy (4-6 weeks is too long given the 6 month limit on chargebacks from most issuers) AND not even refunding within their own ridiculous time frame.
