Q: Does regions bank have a secured credit card? And if so, is it any good?
A: As of 2013 they do not have one. If you want a good alternative, here is my favorite secured card.
The fact that Regions doesn’t have one is probably a good thing. I say that for 3 reasons:
- Limited hours for customer service.
Regions Bank has perhaps the absolute worst hours among any credit card company. You can only call them 6 days a week. M-F it’s 6am-7pm and Sat it’s 8am-2pm (all times Central zone). This is difficult if you work a typical 9 to 5 because by the time you get home for the day, their call center might already be closed.
- They don’t even issue their own cards.
There may not be a Regions secured credit card, but there are 4 unsecured cards available. But guess what? They don’t issue or manage any of them! They actually outsource these cards to FIA Card Services (Bank of America) so that is who you’re actually dealing with if you have one of them.
- Their unsecured cards are a joke.
Obviously if you start with a secured card, you want to eventually work your way up to something bigger and better, right? Well even after you start to improve your credit, I highly doubt you will want one of their unsecured products. The rewards and benefits are almost non-existent.
So given Regions Bank’s track record so far in this industry, it’s probably a blessing in disguise that they don’t have anything that’s secured!
