Do you have an American Express card? If so, you can score 5 free iTunes songs absolutely free! Yes, that’s right… totally free! Here’s how to do it:
Step One: Enroll your American Express card at https://enroll.amexnetwork.com/US/iTunes2011/
Step Two: Sign into your iTunes account and add the enrolled American Express card as your payment source. This is how you do that:
Step Three: Shop on iTunes and buy any 5 songs of your choice. It doesn’t matter whether they are $0.99, $1.29 or any other price. As long as they are songs, they should qualify.
I tried this on separate occasions with two different American Express cards of mine and a few days after each order, I received an email from American Express informing me that my account would be credited for the price of my 5 songs.
Why is AmEx giving away free songs?
At first it may seem like American Express is just pouring money down the drain. After all, the average cost for my two orders was around $7. But my guess is that this was a strategic incentive for you to pay for all of your iTunes purchases using your card. Although it is costing them $7 up front, if you keep your card on file and spend a few hundred dollars over the course of a year or two, they should be able to recoup that costs off the processing fees Apple will be paying them. This offer is only good until March 15th, 2011. However if it pays off for AmEx I would not be surprised if they repeat the offer in the future.
