Cool Who is CF Frost?

You may (or may not) have noticed the name used on nearly every American Express credit card advertisement and commercial. The name is CF Frost, aka Charles Frost. This is a real person that worked for the ad firm Ogilvy and Mather as an account executive. He was the one that created the "Do you know me?" campaigns for Amex. They decided to use his name CF Frost on the cards because they figured it would be better than using some made up name like John Doe, or making up a new name, because someone out there would probably have that name and sue for it being used. Charles Frost left O&M to found his own ad agency in New York but he and American Express always remained "friends" despite his departure.

During a fund-raising event hosted by American Express for the restoration of the Statue of Liberty, Charles Frost was distinguished as an honored guest. He was even featured in a skit during the event for his famous slogan.

So if you ever wondered who CF Frost was, now you know.

I have noticed that before.... interesting to point out I had never really gave it much thought before. The question is... is Chuckie Frost getting some big fat residual payments?

huh I noticed that before and wondered. Is this dude still alive? I agree with the guy above me -- Mr. Frost deserves royalty checks from American Express haha

Charles Frost or Chuck was an account executive for the advertising firm of Ogilvy and Mather .Luckily for Chuck, the number on the credit card was not his real American Express card number. Mr. Frost later left there and establish his own ad agency in Manhattan, but he remained on good terms with the folks at American Express.

That's cool. So is there a story behind JL Benjamin too?

Sorry for the typo, meant JL Benjamin. That's the name on pretty much every picture of the centurion I've seen.

Like that one, and the one in your av.

Good question, I don't know. I Googled "J.L. Benjamin" and "Centurion" and no results. Maybe another ad exec?

If someone on here is bored contact American Express P.R. dept and ask. Here's their media contact info: Media Contacts/Alphabetical

I am always surprised how many new things a human can learn by just browsing through chat boards

Blue seems to be linked to L A Webb
Jet Blue seems to be linked to J B Atkins
Plat, Green, Gold, Cent seems to be linked to C F Frost
True Earnings (Costco) seems to be linked to G M Roeglin

Frankly I never really paid attention to these names.

These are great questions. I've wondered the same thing myself on a number of occasions. I'm a trainer for American Express and I've sent off a couple of emails to get the answers. I'll come back and post what I've found.
