    Default Approved for a BCE!

I read these forums a lot but haven't contributed much, so I thought I'd share my experience with Amex. They kept sending me offers for a $150 signup bonus for Blue Cash Everyday (they usually do $100 for BCE and $150 for BCP with the annual fee), but I was concerned I wouldn't be approved. I'm a recent college grad and only had one other credit card with a low limit, so I wasn't sure if I should risk the inquiry and apply. I figured since I had a well-paying full-time job I might as well apply. Well, what do you know... they approved me for $10k!

They did scare me with it though. I got the dreaded "application in review" message when I applied online, and I when I called twice to check up on it they could only say "another department is handling it and they will get in touch with you." I figured that was bad news, but then I got a call from a very nice lady asking me to verify that I had submitted the application and I was approved on the spot.

The only thing that bugs me is I got an offer the next morning for 30,000 bonus miles on Blue Sky in the mail, but whatever...

Sweet! Could I ask how much income you reported? I just got my BCE with a 6.5K limit. I reported 40K.

Congrats! I have been holding off on an AMEX application due to some other inquiries last year. I ended up getting a new car and financing it over the weekend, so I decided to do an app spree at the same time for a few additional cards. I applied online for the BCE and also received the "application in review" message.

How long did you wait before calling? And about how long after submitting did you receive the approval call?

Congratulations to you that's great news! You can call them and ask if they will give you the offer they sent you - the worst that can happen is they say "no" and you're no worse off for it than you already are.

Well done, I've been trying to get into the Amex club but still have to wait my turn. They sent me all those hook letters and when I finally applied I was denied, I haven't seen them since. Maybe next year I'll apply

I applied with a little less income than that, so I was quite shocked with the high limit they gave me. Hopefully Discover will up my current limit after this starts reporting.
