    Default BCP CLI, how much?

I moved to the US 2 yrs ago so I'm building my credit.
Got the BCP on march/12 with 1k CL. Didn't know about the 61 days 3x CLI so I asked for 2k at 90 days and got it. Now I'm eligible for another CLI. I'm going to try a soft pull online, my utilization ratio is at 10% and I always paid in full.
How much should I go for? 3x (6k)?

I would go for $5k, but that's just me. I've been denied the 61 day 3X CLI. Then again, I have a large amount of credit with Amex based on my income.

This tends to be the million dollar question lol. Personally if your utilization is 10% I'd say go for the full 3x. In MOST cases Amex will just give you a counteroffer.it really just depends on how you feel.

Congrats! I'm thinking about doing the same for my Amex Blue. I've had it since March of last year. It has a zero balance. I did carry a balance for about 3-4 months when I bought a new living room set and took advantage of the 0%. No late payments or minimum payments. Think I should try for 3X too? Or perhaps just 2? I'm scared if I ask for too high of a limit they will want to FR me. I don't have anything to hide, but that's a big pain in the arse. Between my two Amex cards I've spent about 30K with them since March of last year.

Wouldn't they just offer you a lower limit? I don't understand why it arbitrarily has to be 2x or 3x. Can't you request 3x increase which would put you at 15k and then get offered 11k, for example?

Thinking logically there is no reason not too, you got nothing to loose except maybe your feelings getting hurt...haha. It's a soft pull so it's not gonna hurt you at all. If you get an FR just send the paperwork and you'll be fine. If you get a counter then at least you will know that your Income x credit ratio is probably on the limit.
    Just my opinion.

Well, I went for it and was instantly approved for $15K! I'm assuming this means I'm safe from a FR, or at least I hope. After I was approved, it said in 15 minutes my new line of credit would be available.
