769 credit score got me approved for my first AMEX!

Postby Mully85 » Sat Mar 24, 2012 10:36 am

I am so excited today!! I was approved this morning for my first AMEX charge card that happens to be GOLD. I was on their website yesterday comparing their cards and finally just decided to go big for the gold...well big for me at least.

I almost went for the GREEN, you see I'm still re-building my credit after years of neglect. I have good credit scores, but that is because I have finally paid off ALL of my credit card debt. I went with AMEX because they use EXPERIAN as a basis for your credit score, I have a GREAT number (in my eyes) with Experian (769 credit score). The other two scores are lower.

So I decided to go big on the Gold Card and was approved in less than a minute and was told I was a NEW AMERICAN EXPRESS CARDHOLDER!!!! Awesome day!!! :D

Congratulations Mully. Will you be using your Gold for personal use like shopping at stores and restaurants? Or will you be using your Gold for business stuff like airline tickets, checking into hotels, entertaining customers at restaurants and sporting events or shows?

Which gold do you have the basic gold or gold rewards?

I have the green. I use my card for personal use.

Thank You all for the warm welcome. I am excited to be apart of the prestigious club!

As for my use, I do think I am going to use this for business and entertaining clients a bit more than I will use it for personal use. I only travel once a year for my job, but I will be using it for that as well. But I am going to Maui in September for my Honeymoon so I do plan on flashing that a couple of times (I understand it is only a Gold, not a PLATINUM OR CENTURION, but I am very proud of my Gold and I will use it proudly).

Also, this is just the regular Gold card, not the premier rewards. This being my first AMEX, I didn't want to shoot over the stars, I just wanted a card, I almost went for the Green but decided to go up for the regular Gold and glad I did!

I will have the bill sent to my home, but this is where my home office is located.
