Two days ago I applied for an amex jet blue card on the internet. Like they have many times in the past for many many years, I got the answer that my application was pending review.
Yesterday morning, I checked on the status and it said the application was cancelled. Puzzled because they have denied me for my entire life, I decided to call. Because I had placed a credit freeze on my cra's, they needed further verification.
To verify my address, the conferenced called one of my banks to verify my address. 5 minutes later they approved my application with a $10k limit! Amazing, my first amex card!
What makes this story even better was that on 10/2010, i learned that my ID was stolen and I owed hundreds of thousands of dollars due to fraud. It took a surprising 3 months to clear up and remove and left me with a 745 FICO - however amex still would not approve me.
Last night I found this forum and read dozens of postings relating to amex. I want to apply for the gold card because my wife and I do ALOT of traveling, dinners, etc.
After reading that the jet blue card does not really offer the best bank for your buck, should I wait awhile or just apply now for the gold card?
